For those who don’t ski, there are numerous other fun sports and pastimes.
EXCURSIONS IN THE WOODS
The Andalo Riding Centre organizes excursions in the woods, “farmstead tours” (20 minutes roughly), and pony rides for children. You can go on a romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride to the Tana dell’Ermellino in the splendid backdrop of the Brenta Mountains. Once there you can relax, warm yourself and get a taste of typical gastronomic specialities both for tea and in the evening. | | | SNOWSHOE EXCURSIONS
Guided tours on snowshoes in the Adamello-Brenta Natural Park. | | | SKIMOUNTAINEERING Leaving the prepared slopes behind to taste the fresh snow in the peace and quiet of the mountains, walking your skis with sealskins. One of the oldest ways to get around the mountains at a leisurely pace and visit places where nature is truly untouched! Learn uphill and downhill techniques, and the basic elements of safety. Level required: for sports lovers. | | | TELEMARK
A return to the very origins of downhill skiing, which in turn derives from cross-country skiing. This discipline was invented 150 years ago in the south of Norway, in the region of Telemark from where it gets its name. The equipment used is similar to that required for Nordic skiing, but stronger. The technique used is a strange mix of cross-country skiing, jumps on your skis and curving, using a "heels free" boot and bindings. Today you can find specific telemark equipment, similar to that used for skimountaineering, but obviously much more sophisticated that that of old. The original leather boots have been replaced by modern plastic boots, and the skis are ultalight and fitted with safety bindings. The heel remains free also when skiing downhill, as required by tradition. You walk uphill using thin, synthetic sealskins. Technique has changed too, and is totally different to that used in Alpine skiing. We recommend taking a few lessons with an instructor to learn the basics, and in particular the correct setup to make things easier. | | | For more information: Guide Alpine Dolomti di Brenta Paganella Phone: +39 329 5824146 Email: guidealpine@esperienzatrentino.it | |
